Alexandre Beaudin, photographer and videographer
I was born on the south shore of Montreal city in 1980. I studied filmmaking and when I was 20, I left the province of Québec with the intention of discovering the globe. In the winter of 2002, my travels took me up to Yellowknife NWT, a place of marvels where I could learn more about life.
There, I focused on developping my photography skills. My main photography subject was the magical community of the houseboats where I live on Great Slave Lake, but my eye for abstract photography developped by looking down into the water refelections and the ice pattern of the lake as it thawed. This photographic research lead to some of my most amazing shots that were displayed at the Prince of Whale Northern Heritage Center, the federal museum in Yellowknife.
I started freelancing and using professionnal gear, and I soon got into photojournalism, fashion photography, commercial photography, events and many avenues of photography. I've been photographying into diamond mines, on ice roads, above the tundra and onto some wild rivers. As of today, I am still learning about this profession, but I have now been hired to accomplish many jobs across the north all the way to the high Arctic.
I diversify my services between filmmaking and photography because my interest resides in both. In parallel to my photography business, I've been developing my skills as a camera operator, sound technician and video editor. Over the last few years, I've accomplished many short movies, taught workshops, worked on big and small productions as well as in news television.
I am now looking forward getting more of my photographs published in magazines as well as traveling at the internationnal with cameras for movie projects or freelance photography!
